English level B1 is the third tier of English in the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), a determination of the various levels of language proficiency developed by the Council of Europe. In everyday conversation, this level is called “intermediate or medium”, and indeed the term is an official statement in the CEFR level. At this level, the student has surpassed the basic English, but they have not been able to work or study exclusively in English.
